The Shinkansen boundary matters
Covers Ordinary seats on the Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Okayama. It does not cover the Tokaido Shinkansen: Kyoto–Shin-Osaka and travel east toward Tokyo require another ticket. Hiroshima is beyond the included Shinkansen area.
Longer regional trips
Includes eligible limited express services such as HARUKA, KUROSHIO and KONOTORI within the area. Reserve before boarding all-reserved services. The official map also identifies conventional-line coverage toward Takamatsu and Tottori.
When to compare it
Price longer excursions first. For Osaka–Kyoto–Nara local travel, point-to-point tickets or an IC card may cost less.
